Information involved in a visit

Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, processes connection and request information needed to deliver and protect the website. This can include an IP address, browser information, requested URL, request time, and security signals. We do not embed advertising trackers, behavioral analytics, social-media widgets, or a newsletter tracking service in this version of the site. Fonts and article images are hosted with the site.

Information you choose to send

Contact links open your email application. The contact form prepares an email and does not transmit the message to a website database. A message is sent only when you send it through your email service. If you contact us, we receive the address, name if provided, message, and attachments you send. Our contact mailbox is hosted by Google. Do not send passwords, payment-card details, or other unnecessary sensitive information.

Local browser storage

If you save a story, its identifier is stored in your browser under gf-saved. Your notice preference is stored under gf-privacy. These entries stay on that browser until you remove them; they are not synchronized to an account or transmitted to us by the site. Search runs in your browser against the site’s article index. We do not receive a site-search history.

Purposes and recipients

Request information supports content delivery, reliability, abuse prevention, and security. Correspondence is used to answer questions, handle corrections or rights requests, and manage relevant business inquiries. Hosting and email providers process information for those services. We do not sell personal information or use it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We may disclose information when required by applicable law or to address a legitimate security or legal issue.

Retailer links

Following a retailer link takes you to another website with its own privacy practices. If an affiliate identifier is present, the retailer or network may use cookies or similar technology to attribute a purchase. That processing happens under the third party’s policies. A retailer may also receive normal referral information from your browser.

Retention and international processing

Browser preferences remain until cleared locally. Correspondence is retained while needed to resolve the inquiry, maintain relevant business records, or meet legal obligations, and is deleted when no longer needed. Hosting security records are subject to the provider’s service practices. Cloudflare and Google operate internationally, so information may be processed outside your country under their applicable safeguards and terms.

Your choices and requests

You can clear browser storage, use the controls on our Cookie Notice, and choose not to follow external links. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to processing, request portability, withdraw consent where relevant, or complain to your local data-protection authority. Email [email protected] with your request. We may need proportionate verification and will respond under applicable requirements.

Children and changes

The site is intended for a general adult audience and does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Please contact us about any such information. Material changes to these practices will be reflected in this policy and its effective date.
