It is late, the room is dark, and you want to put the phone down without hunting for a cable. A wireless charger can make that moment easier. It can also introduce a bright indicator, a warm phone, or a missed charge if the alignment is fussy. Nightstand shopping deserves its own checklist.
Confirm compatibility first
Look up the phone’s supported wireless-charging standards and the charger’s certification or compatibility details. Magnetic alignment is useful only when the phone or suitable case supports it. Thick cases, metal attachments, and cards can interfere with charging. Check the exact case combination you use rather than assuming a compatibility claim covers everything.
Choose the shape for your routine
A stand keeps the screen visible for a clock or video call, while a pad can be lower and less obtrusive. A multi-device station makes sense only if it supports your watch and earbuds explicitly. Measure its full footprint with devices attached, including the cable bend behind the stand.
Read the power-supply requirements
Some chargers ship without a wall adapter. The required input can depend on a particular charging protocol as well as wattage. Add the adapter and cable to your price comparison. Wireless charging may generate more warmth and can be slower than a suitable wired connection; the neatness is the main benefit for many overnight users.
Test it in the dark
Check indicator brightness, any fan noise, and whether the phone aligns naturally when placed one-handed. Follow the manufacturer’s placement and ventilation guidance. Use supported battery-protection settings if desired. If the charger needs repeated adjustments each night, a simple cable may be the better bedside purchase.
